SERIOUS WARNINGS FOR THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME -

I’ve read the book, and here’s what’s up so far. Please do not watch if you are triggered by any of these things because they are plentiful.

  • Pedophilia on several accounts
  • Teenage pregnancy
  • Murder, gory murder, cold blooded killing
  • Animal abuse/animal murder/skinning dead animals etc.
  • Bugs and spiders, especially eating them
  • Suicide, multiple methods
  • Necrophilia
  • Borderline psychotic views on religion, false preachings etc
  • Lots and lots of gun use, shootings
  • Fight scenes with lots of blood and beating up
  • Severe bullying
  • Cancer
  • Adultery
  • Racism
  • R*pe
  • Alcoholism
  • There are even nods towards police brutality, prostitution and abusive relationships, but they aren’t explicitly written about, they kinda just lie under the surface
  • Sex and nudity , but I mean that’s just an average ‘watch with caution thing’
  • Just general corruption, gore and dodginess.

I’m not even joking. All of this. BE CAUTIOUS WITH THIS MOVIE. It is R rated for a good goddamn reason. There won’t be as many slurs and such as in the book, it won’t be as bad as the book I can guess, because some of that shit you just can’t get on film, but do not watch it if you’re triggered by anything on the above list, nor if you are underage. Warnings are there for a fucking reason, especially on films like this.

For people who still don’t see anything wrong with cultural appropriation, who still call cornrows “boxer braids”, “Kim K braids” or whatever - our cornrows symbolize liberation and freedom, it’s not your trendy hairstyle, it actually does have a history.

Since slaves were never taught to write and drawing directions was dangerous, because they could lead to them being discovered, captured, sold again or even killed by their master.

To reduce the risk of being discovered, women started weaving the maps in their hair, carving out paths with their cornrows. Some of the patterns even had hidden messages!

Yes, braiding existed in Africa way before, but it got a whole new meaning when Europeans enslaved millions of people. So next time you decide to go for a “Kim K look”, do a little research before you end up disrespecting someone’s culture and just, in all honesty, looking silly.
